Top MACC products for stainless steel cutting

When cutting stainless steel, a MACC Coldsaw is the best saw for the task if the material is smaller than 120mm in diameter. A coldsaw is faster and more accurate at cutting stainless steel than any other metal cutting saw option, such as a bandsaw. 

When cutting stainless larger than 120mm in size, a MACC bandsaw is the best option available.

MACC NTA370G Coldsaw

For specialised fabricators who are cutting large volumes of stainless steel pipe, tube or bar stock, the fastest and most efficient machine is a fully automatic coldsaw with an automatic bar feeder—such as the MACC NTA370 Coldsaw. 

While many fabricators think stack cutting with a bandsaw will increase efficiency, this method is not ideal for round stainless steel material.

The reason: a vertical vice is needed on both the entry and the exit feed rollers, which swivel head machines will foul on. The set-up time and inherited problems caused with attempting to stack cut round material outweigh the benefits every time. 

A high-end coldsaw with automatic operation and automatic feed such as the MACC NTA370 is extremely fast at cutting stainless steel and will outperform a bandsaw attempting to stack cut round material.

MACC NEW350DV

For fabricators who are cutting a smaller volume of round stainless steel material and have a lower budget for their metal cutting saw purchase, the best option for the task is the MACC NEW350DV coldsaw. 

This is a manually operated machine where the operator is required to slide the material into place, close the vice and then pull the saw head down through the cut. This method is still extremely fast and efficient

This model has a double vice, which clamps the material on both sides. When cutting thin walled round material, any deforming of the round tube when clamping is applied equally on both sides of the cut, which then gives a cleaner cut. 

MACC also offers single vice machines which are lower cost and clamp the material on only one side. These machines are perfectly suited to cutting box section and rectangular material. However, if you’re cutting round tube, it’s worth investing in a double vice machine.
